What is recorded here

Discovered in 1988 during trench digging for the Dublin - Dundalk gas pipeline. Indicated by a spread of burnt stones. A sample of the burnt material was taken and a detailed petrological analysis carried out which revealed that sandstone was the predominant stone type but igneous rocks and a local rock type known as greywacke were also used. (Buckley, Gowen and Vaughan CLAJ 1987, 294-6) Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 31 May 2012
