The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Complex drystone-built souterrain, roughly T-shaped in plan, consisting of a passage (L 4.5m, Wth 0.9m, H 0.8m) sloping down to the NNE and terminating in a sub-rectangular corbelled chamber. A second passage (L 6.7m, Wth 1.1m, H 1m) extends WNW from the chamber and terminates in a beehive chamber (dims. 2.1m by 2.9m, H 2m). On the ESE side of the first chamber a step (H 0.4m) gives access to a third passage (L 3m, Wth 0.3m, H 0.8m) leading ESE and blocked by collapse. There is a horseshoe-shaped recess (L 1.1m, Wth 0.7m, H 0.5m) in the WNW side of the first chamber at an upper level directly over the second passage. (CLAJ 1958, 93-5)
