What is recorded here

Site of early foundation for which bishops are recorded in the ninth century. Medieval church was in disrepair in 1692 and was subsequently removed. Present church nineteenth-century in date. No trace of earlier foundation. In the course of repair works in 1973 a single-light window with splayed jambs was exposed in the south wall perhaps indicating the presence of earlier fabric (SMR file).
