Situated on a wide high ridge and consisting of a high flat-topped mound (diam. at base c. 34m; at summit 16.2m, H 6-9m) with remains of a wide fosse (Wth 6.3m, D 0.9m) now almost filled in but still discernible all the way round. There are very slight remains of a possible bailey (max. L c. 40m, Wth c. 30m, H c. 0.9m) to the ESE of the mound defined by scarping. The remains of a low drystone wall (Wth c. 0.6m, H c. 0.3m) surrounds the summit of the mound. (Morris 1908, 43)
