Test excavations were carried out in advance of proposed development at this location in 2002 (Excavation Licence No. 02E0549). Spreads of charcoal rich clay and heat fractured stones, linear features of probable early medieval date and a number of possible pits were identified. Finds included a number of sherds of coarse, early medieval pottery and numerous pieces of metal slag. (Walsh 2004, 381-2). Further testing in 2006 did not reveal any archaeological material (McLoughlin 2009, 352-3). Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 4 May 2012
