Local tradition of castle on Carrick Philip, a natural eminence 300m NE of church (LH007-073001-). No visible surface trace. Possible souterrain (LH006-091001-) near site. (Corcoran 1932, 497) The above description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991).
