On a low ridge in pasture, c. 90m to the NE of Ballyorney House. Indicated on the 1837 OS 6-inch map as a circular tree plantation with the designation 'Fort'. A report in 1976 (SMR file) noted that this raised oval area (63m NNE-SSW; 45m WNW-ESE) was defined by a wide low bank of earth and stone, which had been faced externally with drystone masonry in relatively modern times. There was no trace of a fosse and the original entrance was not recognisable. It is now defined by a scarp (H 0.35m) upon which mature beech trees are growing. Possibly a rath that was adapted and reused as a landscape feature.
