A castle is depicted on an early 17th-century map of Shrule barony (BL, Cotton MS Augustus I.ii.26) close to the townland border between Kilnacarrow and Corrabola, which would place it in the N part of the present townland of Kilcurry. Its precise location has not been identified. (Mac Niocaill 1992, 274)

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
