What is recorded here

Various elements of wood were exposed in a drain face (overall exposed Wth 4.4m; T 0.6m). Off-centre to the N were two planks (L 0.95m max.), one above the other with possible brushwood in between. The planks and drain were orientated NNW-SSE. In the centre there was more plank material, beneath which was a cluster of brushwood orientated E-W, N-S and NE-SW. At the S end of the exposure was a band of unevenly spaced small/large brushwood and roundwood (Wth 1.2m; T 0.6m) with varying orientations. At the opposite N end were four small and two large brushwoods (L 0.8m). Below these, at a depth of 0.8m, was a cluster of heavier wood that may have been natural root material.
