What is recorded here

On a gentle S-facing slope in pasture. Depicted as a roughly oval-shaped enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A raised oval area (73.7m N-S; 61.9m E-W) enclosed by a much-denuded, low bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.7m; H 0.75m max.) with a shallow external fosse (Wth 5.2m; D 0.3m), which is identifiable only from NW-N-SSE. Elsewhere it has been infilled and replaced with a modern laneway. The original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011
