Architectural fragment in Inchcleraun

Over 40 carved loose stones recorded from Inchcleraun (LF021-048----) that are listed in the OPW Carved Stone Inventory which are now housed in the locked sacristy of Templemore Augustinian Priory (LF021-048004-). 5 carved stones are now located in the OPW depot at Athenry, Co. Galway. Another sandstone slab which may be part of a tomb is now located in the National Museum of Ireland (NMI Reg. No. 19333:597; HAB:C8:24). Stone ID No. 2876 represents a plain sandstone voussoir (H 0.31m x Wth 0.25m x D 0.4m) with diagonal tooling visible Stone ID No. 2880 represents a sandstone voussoir (H 0.23m x Wth 0.26m x D 0.33m) with frontal chevron ornament. Chevron motif comprises broad band flanked by 2 thinner bands with incised lines on soffit. Some diagonal tooling on dressed face. Stone ID No. 2883 represents a sandstone jamb (H 0.28m x Wth 0.29m x D 0.37m) with angle roll flanked by beading projecting rectangular section on front face flanked by beading. Stone ID No. 2887 represents a sandstone voussoir (H 0.7m x Wth 0.28m x D 0.34m) with angle roll flanked by beading. Stone ID No. 2889 represents a sandstone voussoir (H 0.38m x Wth 0.29m x D 0.27m) with plain angle roll. Stone ID No. 2891 represents a jambstone (H 0.64m x Wth 0.9m x D 0.3m) with with double quadrant mouldings on angle. Stone ID No. 2893 represents a badly broken squared piece of sandstone with circular depression, possibly a basin (H 0.2m x Wth 0.32m x D 0.37m). Stone ID No. 2894 represents a limestone jamb (H 0.17m x Wth 0.46m x D 0.27m) with 3/4 roll moulding on the angle flanked by keels. Stone ID No. 2896 represents a sandstone voussoir (H 0.33m x Wth 0.36m x D 0.23m) carved on face and soffit with two bands of lateral centrifugal chevrons. Stone ID No. 2898 represents a limestone impost (H 0.14m x Wth 0.28m x D 0.26m) with hollow half roll. Stone ID No. 2899 represents an ashlar stone (H 0.12m x Wth 0.28m x D 0.34m) with diagonal tooling. Stone number 000038 has traces of red paint. Stone ID No. 2905 represents a limestone jamb (H 0.2m x Wth 0.33m x D 0.1m) with 1/2 ogee curve. Stone ID No. 2906 represents a plain limestone window sill (H 0.14m x Wth 0.47m x D 0.24m) to receive chamfered mullions. Some punch dressing. Stone ID No. 2909 represents a sandstone jamb (H 0.19m x Wth 0.35m x D 0.19m) with double chamfered arris. Stone ID No. 2911 represents a limestone keystone (H 0.18m x Wth 0.4m x D 0.21m) of a pointed arch moulded with half roll and fillet and chamfered. Punch dressing. Stone ID No. 2914 represents a thin sandstone voussoir (H 0.12m x Wth 0.42m x D 0.32m) with chamfered arris. Stone ID No. 2915 represents a damaged limestone voussoir (H 0.18m x Wth 0.13m x D 0.15m) with partial remains of hollow roll mouldings. Stone ID No. 2916 represents a broken limestone column or shaft (H 0.13m x Wth 0.11m x D 0.08m) has traces of red pigment. Diagonal tooling on bonding faces. Stone ID No. 2917 represents a sandstone voussoir (H 0.2m x Wth 0.35m x D 0.3m) probably section of trefoil with chamfer diagonal tooling. Stone ID No. 2918 represents a section of a limestone impost (H 0.8m x Wth 0.9m x D 0.2m) with double quadrant moulding. Stone ID No. 2919 represents a limestone window sill (H 0.13m x Wth 0.61m x D 0.25m) to receive chamfered mullions with central square rebate for glazing bar. Vertical tooling. Stone ID No. 2920 represents a limestone voussoir (H 0.61m x Wth 0.22m x D 0.18m) with square section. Stone ID No. 2921 represents a limestone voussoir (H 0.33m x Wth 0.28m x D 0.2m) moulded with roll hollow and beak moulding. Stone ID No. 2946 represents a limestone tracery bar (H 0.32m x Wth 0.38m x D 0.23m) - cusped tracery with glazing grooves. Stone ID No. 2949 represents a sandstone capital (H 0.26m x Wth 0.23m x D 0.28m) with upper square section and lower circular section. Transition between the two marked by 2 confronted quadrapeds with snouts meeting at angle. Stone ID No. 2950 represents a fragment of a limestone window sill (H 0.23m x Wth 0.67m x D 0.29m) to receive chamfered mullion. Somewhat splayed on interior.
