What is recorded here

On a high NNW-SSE ridge in otherwise low-lying pasture. Not indicated on the 1837 or 1883 eds. of the OS 6-inch map but shown on the OS 25-inch plan (surveyed 1911) as a raised area defined by a scarp that curved from NW-SE where it joined the field boundary that defined its S sector. A report in 1976 (SMR file) noted that the monument was largely levelled; apart from the curve in the field boundary at S, faint indications of a bank were evident at N and E. On re-inspection in 1998 only the curving field boundary remained. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 4 December 2011
