In 1682 Nicholas Dowdall recorded that Sir John Edgeworth on receiving his father’s estate ‘hath Improved it by building a fair house planted Orchards and Gardens very Sumptuous and Impalled a fair Park [LF015-063006-] for Deer’. The precise location of the gardens has not been identified
