The Battle of Granard took place on 5th September, 1798, the same day that the French Army was attacked at Collooney, Co. Sligo. The battlefield site is located in and around the town of Granard, Co. Longford. The town is well established on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey maps, with churches, schools, a police barracks, post office and a dispensary.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
