This armorial plaque has been re-set into the wall at the N end of the W range of buildings in the courtyard to the NW of the19th-century house ‘Castle Forbes’. The plaque bears the coat of arms of Elizabeth I, Queen of England (1558-1603) (Casey and Rowan 1993, 192). Its original provenance is unknown but it is very likely to have come from the late medieval castle (LF008-012001-).
