What is recorded here

At the highest point of a prominent drumlin in reclaimed pasture. A raised subcircular area (49.1 NW-SE; 42.4m NE-SW) enclosed by a substantial bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.2m; H 0.2-1.3m) with a partially rock-cut, waterlogged external fosse (Wth 3.2m; D 0.6m). The outer face of the bank has been steepened and the fosse has been narrowed and deepened. A report in 1976 (SMR file) recorded fragmentary traces of an outer bank, which are no longer identifiable. A laneway from WNW-N-E may overlie it. A break (Wth 2.9m) in the bank at E with an accompanying causeway may mark the original entrance. Another report in 1963 (SMR file) recorded 'faint suggestions of house foundations' (LF003-001002-). Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 17 January 2012

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
