What is recorded here

Situated in reclaimed pasture on a gentle W-facing slope which is in a slight col on a N-S drumlin ridge. A small enclosure (diam. c. 20m) with bushes on the perimeter is depicted faintly as on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described as ‘Lisnachappul’ – Fort of the horses. Two bushes remain untouched, and the stones accumulated at their base are regarded locally as a mass-rock. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 15 December 2011 Amended: 7 January 2020
