What is recorded here

The townland name – Cashel – suggests that there was once a stone fort within it, and even though Coshell or Cashel townland is represented on an estate map (Wogan 1750, 2) no fort is depicted and none is depicted on any OS 6-inch map. Any such monument remains unlocated, although stones from the cashel were said to be scattered on the hillside in the 1940s (Blaney 1944). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 6 January 2020

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows only the centre of the wider government map area. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
