What is recorded here

Located just off the crest of the SE-facing slope of a drumlin. This is an overgrown circular area (diam. c. 30m), which remains unplanted at the edge of a coniferous forest. It is defined by an earthen bank (at NW: Wth of base 9.2m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 2.6m) separated by a fosse (at NW: Wth of top 11m; Wth of base 2.45m) from an outer bank (at NW: Wth of base 8.55m; int. H 2.45m; ext. H 1.2m) and an outer fosse (at NW: Wth of top 4.1m; Wth of base 1.7m; ext. D 0.8m). It has a maximum external diameter of c. 70m but the original entrance was not identified. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 23 September 2008 Amended: 9 December, 2019
