What is recorded here

In 1595 a hospital is mentioned for the first time in connection with Cloone when land amounting to about three townlands was owned by the abbey for the hospital (Logan 1970, 57; Gwynn and Hadcock 1970, 32, 348). The nature of the hospital and its location are not known; it might have been anywhere in the parish although probably close to the church. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 6 December 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
