What is recorded here

Situated on a slight rise in a low-lying landscape with drumlins to the E and W. This is a grass-covered circular platform (diam. 41.4m E-W; 38.3m N-S; H 0.8-1.2m) defined by a widely spread bank (Wth of base 6.3m; int. H 0.4m) at N but largely by the overgrown fosse (Wth of top 5-7m; Wth of base 1-2m; ext. D 0.2-0.8m), and an outer bank (at N: Wth of base 4.2m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.2m) which is visible W-NE but is curtailed by a NE-SW field bank at SE and incorporated into a NW-SE field bank (Wth of base 4.3m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.8m) at SW. The original entrance is not identified, and rath (LE032-105----) is c. 130m to the NW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
