What is recorded here

Located towards the bottom of a WSW-facing slope in improved pasture. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a subcircular area (dims 28m ENE-WSW; 24m NNW-SSE) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (at S: Wth of base 4.4m; Wth of top 1.7m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.2m) NE-S-NW, which is reduced to a scarp (Wth 1.6m; H 0.2m) NW-NE on the N side of an ENE-WSW field bank and hedge across the N-sector. A fosse (at S: Wth of top 6.1m; Wth of base 3.2m; D 0.2m) is visible ESE-SW but is truncated at W by the remains of a NNW-SSE field bank (now removed) and it is not visible NW-NE. The fosse is also absent NE-ESE, where it may have been removed by a N-S field boundary (now removed). There is no identifiable entrance. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 11 May, 2015
