What is recorded here

Situated in a low-lying position amongst drumlins with a small N-S stream c. 60m to the E. It is described as a 'Fort' on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map and depicted as a hachured feature on the 1945 revision. This is a grass-covered, D-shaped earthen platform (dims 22m N-S; 20m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.6m), but the perimeter is incorporated in a N-S field bank at E and slightly truncated by an E-W farm lane at S. The original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revised upload: 15 October 2019
