Situated towards the SE end of the oval Callowhill Lough (dims c. 300m NW-SE; c. 200m NE-SW). It is indicated as a small feature (diam. c. 5m) on the 1944 revised edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described as a 'Crannóg'. An earthen mound (diam. c. 15m) is visible beneath the surface of the water. On the E shore of the lake are two timbers; one is a dug-out canoe (L 4.7m; Wth 0.45m), and the other (dims 0.4m x 0.2m; L 5.35) has two mortises on one face and two half-mortises on another face. The crannog was disturbed by divers in the 1970s (National Museum of Ireland, Topographical file).
