What is recorded here

Unlocated monastery within townland that is described by Carrigan as 'A little less than a half a mile to the south of Durrow, in the townland of Clonageera, the site of a "monastery" is still pointed out. Some slight fragments of the walls of the monastic church remained, in the "Wilderness" about 200 yds. Almost due west of Clonageera House, till 1865, when they were cleared away. The site is now known to but very few' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 224). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 17 December 2007

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
