Part of a sub-circular enclosure (C c. 100m SW-NNW) indicated on the 1908 edition of the OS 6-inch map and visible on aerial photographs (GSI, S 33-4; S 103-4). It is defined by a scarp from S-SW, and by a bank (Wth c. 2.5m, ext. H c. 1m) from SW-NNW. An external fosse (Wth c. 3.8m) is present from SE-NNW. No other visible surface remains. The interior rises with the natural topography. A possible mass-rock (LA035-049001-) is located in the NE quadrant close to the bank of the stream. The stream forms the county boundary between Laois and Kilkenny. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran.
