What is recorded here

Not marked on the 1839 or 1908 eds OS 6-inch map. Reference to enclosure here (O'Hanlon and O'Leary 1907, vol. 1, 227-8). Possible remains visible at S and E. No other visible surface remains. Uninscribed grave-markers visible in the surrounding subrectangular graveyard (LA035-031002-). Gateway with rebated entrance (Wth c. 5.1m; D c. 3.3m; T c. 1m) lies to SW of church. Large subcircular enclosure surrounding site is visible on aerial photographs (CUCAP, BDL 18, 27-8). Evidence of possible bank at E and S, no other surface remains survive. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran.
