Dedicated to St John the Baptist, this well was also known as Tubberig and Tubberach (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 228). Situated in a low-lying area. Indicated by a shallow pool of water.
Described by Carrigan as "Tubberboe well", from which the townland of Tubberboe takes its name, is about 350 yds. to the southwest. It is sometimes called Tubberig and Tubberach. On the Ordnance Map it is called "St. John's well"; and very old people still call it by this name. Down to the early part of the last century, the people used to assemble to pray and pilgrim at this well 'on St. John's day in Summer'(Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 228).
