Situated in a low lying area. Reference to a possible round tower or bell tower here (Roe, Helen M. 75). No visible surface remains. In 1151 AD according to the Annals of the Four Masters at Achadh Meic Airt (Aghmacart) where 'in the cloightheach of this church, Eochaid Ui Chuinn, the Fear Leighinn (lector) were burnt to death' (H. Roe, A History of County Laoighis (Unpublished), p. 75) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P.
