What is recorded here

Unlocated souterrain referred to as a cave beside a standing stone and near Clooneen church that is described by Carrigan as 'South-east of the Orchard, and, again in the same field, a low pillar stone standing upright on a hillock marks the entrance to a cave' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 139). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 17 December 2007

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
