According to the History of the Queens County 'Castletown Protestant church is on the site of a more ancient one, and a grave-yard, as also Castletown House and Maidenhead House. A remarkable mound is at a few paces distance from the church. Newcastle, in ruins, and Towerlton House are also here' (O'Hanlon and O'Leary 1907, vol. 1, 251).
Mr. Kent of Castletown House, informed us of a tradition that there was a burial ground in the field south of the church and that bones had been found there (Urban Survey 1986 , p. 20).
Rectangular graveyard (int. dims. 28m N-S; 57m E-W) enclosed by a stone wall with a church of Ireland church (LA026-011002-) in the centre of the graveyard.
