House is post 1700 AD in date. Described in the History of The Queen's County as 'On the north side of Ballylinan are the house and plantations of Rahin, the seat of the Weldon family, reputed to have settled here in the reign of James I' (O'Hanlon and O'Leary 1907, vol. 1, 250). There is no evidence for any building pre-1700 AD in the area marked as 'Rahin House'.
