What is recorded here

Unlocated well within townland. According to local tradition an ancient road 'traversed diagonally the parish of Borris (in Ossory), passing through Ballykelly (Bealach Eli), and Clonagooden, then by Britthawce Well in Ballybrophy, where part of it can still be seen, and then through Bushfield to Aghaboe. Britthawce well is situated near the road junction called the 'Green Road'' (Cunningham 1987, 161). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 17 December 2007

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
