The Black Quarry is located 100m to the SW of the church and graveyard and has the NGR of 226803/185753. This quarry was used during the penal times as a Penal Mass Station in the early 18th century (Carrigan 1905 vol. 2, 130). According to Carrigan 'During the penal times, in the early part of the 18th century, Mass used to be said in the Black Quarry' (Carrigan 1905 vol. 2, 130).
