A subcircular area (max. dims. c. 50m N-S, 38m E-W) defined by a low earthen bank (Wth c. 2.2m, int. H c. 0.1m, ext. H c. 0.4m) at S, W and N, and by a scarp at E. The site is destroyed at SE. A shallow fosse (Wth c. 2.1m) is visible from S-E. No evidence of original entrance.
Listed in the Register of Historic Monuments as a Ringfort on the 25/10/1984.
Land in the vicinity of the ringfort was excavated by Thaddeus Breen in 1996 under licence no. 96E3 13. The line of the Portlaoise Water Supply Improvement pipeline was excavated along the side of the road opposite this ringfort. Despite the proximity of the ringfort, no disturbance whatever of the natural soil was found.
