18th century folly known as the Spire which was built on top of an earlier Windmill, the spire was built in 1779 by William Henry Damer, Viscount Carlow to give employment during a hard winter. The dating of the windmill is uncertain but may date from the first quarter of the 18th century. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 17 December 2007
