Excavated in 2006 in advance of the N9/N10 Waterford to Kilcullen Road Improvement Scheme (Excavation licence no. E2510). Two Early Neolithic pits located within the interior of and early medieval enclosure (KK036-065----). Radiocarbon dates of 3625-3373 cal BC (UBA-13484) were returned. The pits contained Neolithic artefacts such as pottery, a small stone adze or axe, flint debitage and rubbing stones. These were placed in the pits with organic remains (burnt hazelnut shells and emmer wheat) in such a way as to suggest ritual activity. (McKinstry 2009, 259-10, no. 1018; 2010)
