What is recorded here

In August 1956 human remains were discovered during quarrying operations at a sandpit near Piltown. The burials did not appear to have been contained within a cist and no associated artefacts were found. The exact location is unknown and the remains were not investigated by the National Museum. (Cahill and Sikora 2011, vol. 2, 485) Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 11 February 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
