Situated within an enclosure (KK035-048001-) dated to cal AD 1050-1217 and partially excavated in 2006 in advance of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road improvement scheme (Excavation licence no. E2513). A number of pits and a possible hearth were found within the enclosure. The most notable pit (1.1m x 1m; D 0.55m) was filled with loose black silty sand and contained seeds, charcoal and organic material. It had a narrow slot extending from it at N. It. A charred barley grain yielded a radiocarbon date of 1122-946 cal BC (UBA-14002). (Channing 2009, 268, no. 1047; Channing and O’Neill 2010)
