On a rise with land sloping to the N. A roughly rectangular-shaped graveyard (dims. c. 55m NE-SW; c. 33m NNW-SSE), with the public road running NE-SW along the E side. On the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map the graveyard wall does not extend to the road, which is depicted as a dashed line. Another dashed line is depicted extending the graveyard northward by c. 32m, indicating an area of the graveyard which was not enclosed. This northern area is currently within the garden of the house immediately to the N and there are no indications of burials at ground level. A round tower (KK031-030001-) stands in near the W boundary wall of the graveyard and the N wall of a much modified 12th/13th-century church (KK031-030003-) forms the N boundary of the graveyard. According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 4, 6) St Brendan of Birr was the patron of the church and the holy well (Kk031-029---) c. 220m to the NW of the church is dedicated to him. There are numerous headstones in the graveyard dating from the 18th century up to the present.
