What is recorded here

On Brandon Hill. According to Shearman (1876-8, 195-6), ‘The summit of the hill is crowned by a large cairn [KK029-032001-]; on the northern side is a circle of standing stones [KK029-032002-], about 15 yards in diameter, and on the south slope is a smaller circle [KK029-041001-] and a mound of earth [KK029-041002-] called St. Brendan’s Hermitage’. The precise location of the smaller circle, possible a hut site, and the mound is unknown. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 21 March 2022

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
