According to O’Kelly (1969, 147) in Garranstan townland, there is ‘one rath’. There is no enclosure indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map or the 1947 revision. A quarry, indicated by hachures on the 1947 revision, in the northern portion of the townland, may have been mistaken by O’Kelly as an enclosure. The location of a ‘rath’ in the townland is unknown.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
