Lying loose, at the W end of the S side of the chancel of St Mary’s medieval parish church (KK026-010012-), Callan. Portion of a decorated limestone slab (L 0.42m; H 0.49m; T 0.17m). The portion that survives is possibly part of a decorative image on a chest tomb. It appears to be a side piece, with a plain border (Wth 0.13m) on the dexter side. Within the border is a small panel decorated in false relief with a bird which appears to be grabbing a small creature with its feet. The edge of the panel is decorated with blind tracery and there is more blind tracery in a smaller panel below. Another similar fragment (KK026-010075-) may be from the same monument.
