What is recorded here

According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 421), the townland of Bramblestown was subdivided into Bramblestown (proper), Powersbog and Kilcroney. He states that in Bramblestown (proper', 'there is a "Rillig," or ancient churchyard, on the farm of Peter Purcell or Richard hennessy. There was an interment, accompanied by a funeral, here, early in the 19th century' (ibid.). The precise location of this burial ground within Bramblestown townland is unknown. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
