According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 372), “Kilree Church” stood about a quarter of a mile [c. 400m] east of the castle, in the “Church Field.” No trace whatever remains of it now. The graveyard, in which it stood, has been obsolete, time out of mind; has neither enclosing rampart, nor appearances of graves; and is now quite overgrown with bushes’. The graveyard (KK024-008002-) is indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and on the 1899-1902 revision.
