Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as a roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 50m) with a large quarry running up to the NW edge. On the 1947 revision the monument (overall diam. c. 77m) it is indicated as a central roughly circular raised area (diam. c. 43m) enclosed by a berm or fosse (Wth c. 5m) and outer bank from NE-SE, elsewhere the outer edge is defined by scarp, except in the NW sector where the outer edge has been encroached upon by quarrying. A public road runs roughly N-S along immediately beyond the outer bank in the E quadrant, the road curves to respect the monument. Also on the 1947 revision map a field boundary is indicated running roughly E-W immediately N of the enclosure and another immediately S. A large house, constructed in 1972, and landscaped garden occupies the interior of the enclosure and the outer bank in the S sector has been levelled (Shanahan and Kirby 2015). O'Kelly (1969, 176) refers to, 'a Moat here [Oldtown] locally called the Raheen', which probably relates to this monument as no other enclosure is indicated in this townland on either the 1st. ed. map or the 1947 revision.
