What is recorded here

A roughly oval enclosure (max. diam. c. 60m) indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map, showing a small quarry or pond adjacent to the external bank in the SW sector. A field boundary is indicated running NNW-SSE immediately E of the monument and another parallel boundary runs immediately to the W. On the 1947 revision of this map these field boundaries are indicated as well as three small ponds, along the E, S and SW edges of the enclosure. The monument, and the field boundary to the W, has since been levelled. The depression of the fosse is visible on satellite imagery (Digitalglobe, viewed 17 August 2021), as is the pond along the E side. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 17 August 2021

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
