Under the heading 'The Racecourse or Kilmog, Cill Mo Aodhóg, Church of Mogue', O'Kelly (1969, 183) refers to, 'a tradition of an ancient church and the Friar's Well is in Tom Kearney's field'. Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 392-3) locates the church of Kilmog (KK023-009003-) to the gravel pit which is indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and the 1947 revision immediately S of a bullaun stone (KK023-009001-) and former holy tree (KK023-009002-) and running along the W side of the Kilkenny - Kells road. The name of the well referred to by O'Kelly suggests that it may have been a holy well. The precise location of Friar's Well is unknown.
