What is recorded here

The medieval church associated with the graveyard (KK022-018001-) at Killaloe is not visible above ground. It appears to have disappeared long before 1839 as it is not indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map, nor is not mentioned by Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 439), who does, however, describe the graveyard and one of the two medieval graveslabs (KK022-018002-) within it. The only church he refers to is a penal chapel (KK022-018003-) which occupied the site of the present RC church (ibid.). The precise location of the medieval church is unknown, though it is likely to be within or adjacent to the graveyard. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 24 May 2021
