Heavily overgrown with scrub. Indicated as a large sub-square enclosure on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map with a road running NW-SE along the straight NE side and the other sides, which also are depicted as straight, are enclosed by field boundaries, the E and S angles of the monument are shown as curving. On the 1900 revision the SE and SW sides are straight while the NE and NW sides are curving. The enclosure (dims. c. 75m NW-SE; max. 60m NE-SW) tapers towards the SE (c. 33m NE-SW). Described by Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 414) as, 'a fine circular fort called Rathcusack'.
